01 Who this is for

Owner-run businesses, where the person reading this is also the person answering the phone. A trade, a practice, a studio, a shop, a small firm. There is no marketing manager, the website is one job among forty, and it keeps sliding to next week.

Maybe there is no site yet. Maybe there is one a nephew built, or one you paid for years ago and cannot log into. Either way, people look you up before they ring, and what they find decides whether they do.

If you have been saying “I need to sort out a website for my small business” for a year now, this page sets out what a small business website in Ireland needs, what it costs, and how we build one without taking your week.

02 What a small business site actually needs

Less than you have been told, done properly.

A clear offer

What you do, for whom, and where, in the first screen. No slogans to decode.

Your number and address

On every page, and tappable on a phone. The same details as your Google Business Profile.

One page per service

Each thing you sell gets its own page. One page listing six services rarely ranks for any of them.

Proof

Real reviews and real work. Photographs of jobs you did beat any stock image.

A way to enquire

A short form and a phone number, sent to the inbox you actually check.

Fast and findable

Quick on a phone, and built so Google can read it. Most of your visitors are on mobile.

What it does not need

A video background. A blog you will not have time to write. A chatbot. Twelve pages padded out to look bigger. Every extra feature is something to load, maintain and pay for. A small site that answers the obvious questions well will outsell a big one that does not.

03 What it costs

Launch is €5,400 fixed, for up to six pages, with hosting for the first year, SSL and daily backups. That suits most owner-run businesses. Grow is €10,800 for up to fifteen pages, with SEO research and page build plus 90 days of rank tracking, for a business with more services or more competition. After year one, Care is €190 a month. Send us the brief and you get a fixed quote in writing within two working days.

We are not the cheapest option, and it is fair to say so. You can get a website for less. Irish studios publish template and brochure sites at €1,500 to €3,500, DIY builders charge a monthly subscription, and freelancers vary widely. What those usually leave out is the part that brings in work: a page for each service, the research into what people actually search, a site that loads quickly on a phone, and someone looking after hosting, backups and security afterwards. That gap is what you pay for, and it is usually where an affordable small business website stops being cheap.

04 The grant

The Local Enterprise Office runs the Trading Online Voucher, which puts up to €2,500 towards getting a small Irish business trading online. It is matched funding at 50 percent: the voucher pays half, you pay half, up to the cap.

On Launch the arithmetic is simple. The project is €5,400. Half of that is €2,700, but the voucher is capped at €2,500. So if your application is approved, you pay €2,900.

Apply first, get approval, then spend. Never the other way round.

Eligibility is set by the Local Enterprise Office, the rules change, and none of it is decided by us. Confirm the current terms with your own office before you plan around it. What we can do is give you a fixed, itemised quote in writing, which is what an application needs. Our guide to the Trading Online Voucher covers the rest.

05 How it works when you have no time

You send a short brief: what you do, where, and what the site has to achieve. A few lines is enough to start.

Within two working days you get a fixed price in writing. No discovery call is required. If you want one, we will ring you, but you do not need to clear an afternoon for a workshop.

Design comes next, on real screens with your words and your photographs, so you approve the actual site rather than a sketch. We tell you exactly what we need from you and when.

Most sites launch in 4 to 8 weeks from a signed quote. After that, hosting, SSL and backups are handled, and you get on with running the business.

06 Proof

Platinum Pilates runs five reformer studios and three physiotherapy clinics across Dublin. One Squarespace site gives every studio its own page, every treatment its own page, and Mindbody booking embedded in the site rather than bolted on beside it. Read the case study →

Healy Pentony is a boutique law firm on Merrion Square. Its site splits private clients from businesses straight below the fold, so each lands on the right practice area, with quote forms built into the property and probate pages. Read the case study →

The Avoca Wicklow Day Tour is a family-run chauffeured tour. Its old template site buried the €750 price and hid the TripAdvisor reviews. The redesign put the price in plain sight and the reviews where people hesitate. Read the case study →

We also build for clinics, solicitors, accountants, financial advisers and studios. For a larger build, see web design in Dublin. To be found by people nearby, see local SEO.

07/ FAQ

Common questions.

Do I need a website if I have a Facebook page?

Facebook is fine for news, but you do not own it, it ranks poorly for what you sell, and plenty of customers never log in. A website is the address you control. Keep the page and point it at the site.

How much should a small business website cost in Ireland?

Irish studios publish small business sites at roughly €2,500 to €6,000. Ours start at €5,400 for up to six pages with the first year of hosting included. Whoever you hire, get the number fixed and in writing before anything starts.

Can I update the website myself?

Yes, if you want to. Where you will be editing pages yourself we build on WordPress, Squarespace or Wix and show you how. If you would rather not, the Care plan covers small changes.

How long does a small business website take?

Most launch in 4 to 8 weeks from a signed quote. The thing that slows a project down is usually waiting on words and photographs, so we tell you exactly what we need at the start.

Can I use the Trading Online Voucher?

Possibly. The Local Enterprise Office runs the scheme and decides who qualifies, so ask them first. Apply and get approval before you commit to any spend. We can give you the fixed written quote the application needs.
